Working hard or working smart?
One might efficiently shuffle gold from one pile to another, but is it effective?
The effectiveness of that effort is questionable.
Effectiveness is how we use the resources to maximize the gain (profit).
Frederick Taylor designed a new shuffle and prepared clear work instructions and a "fair pay for fair work" policy to improve the effectiveness of shuffling.
Shuffling ore and coal in the steel mill was one of the critical jobs at that time.
Taylor was aware of the management importance. He is the father of scientific management and one of the first management consultants.

Coaching is like consulting. Here the personal and social aspects are more important. They are also present in consulting, but understanding and rapport are crucial in coaching.
